My Graduation:

In 1979 I got selected for MBBS, after internship I joined as Senior House staff ship under Professor Abir Lal Mukherjee who was a legendary ENT surgeon of that time. After completion of my housestaff ship I had to join as an ADMO in Southern Railways. I was preparing for my PG simultaneously and the first PG exam I tried was for JIPMER, Pondicherry. I got selected for ENT and physiology both, as I already had experience in working at ENT departments, I opted for ENT as my post-graduation subject.

My Post-graduation:

My professor and HOD was legendary professor Nirmalya Kumar Majumdar at JIPMER. The training period was very tough and hectic, they performed a vast variety of head and neck surgeries as well as advanced skull base surgeries even at that time. I completed my residency in 1989 with a gold medal and joined as senior resident in the same institute.

My Career:

Later I joined WBHS in a remote village, which I could not continue for long due to multiple reasons. Subsequently, I joined Bokaro steel Plant and Vizag steel Plant. But, as I wanted to work in Bengal I returned and joined the West Bengal ESI service. But, I started losing interest from this job, as there was no academics & learnings involved. Finally, I got selected in WBMES in 1998 at Calcutta medical College & got a chance to work at Calcutta medical College till 2007. I did a good research work along with multiple new surgeries there at Calcutta Medical College. I also attended various surgical workshops and presented many papers during the due course of my service.

I subsequently served different medical colleges of West Bengal including, Bankura Sammilani Medical College, Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Calcutta National Medical College at various reputed positions. Currently, holding the chair of Head of Department, ENT & Head-Neck Surgery, at Calcutta National Medical College.
